“Fox News contributor Stacey Dash was suspended for two weeks by the network on Monday after claiming President Barack Obama doesn’t “give a s***” about terrorism on air, but this is far from the first time the former “Clueless” star has generated controversy with her conservative rhetoric. The 48-year-old actress, who emerged as sociopolitical commentator after publicly endorsing the Romney-Ryan presidential ticket in 2012, has criticized women who highlight wage disparity, attacked Oprah Winfrey for linking the death of Trayvon Martin to Emmett Till, defended embattled celebrity cook Paula Deen against accusations of racism, suggested campus rape accusers are often “bad girls” acting “naughty” and claimed African-Americans who support Obama are getting “money for free.” –MSNBC.com, (Updated 1/4/2016)
If Ms. Dash’s Black History Month comments didn’t spark enough outrage in Black America, this one about the Prez, to me, should take the cake. I, for one, would’ve never guessed in a million years that the “Mo’ Money” leading actress would turn into a “brain-dead” conservative for FOX News…and then get suspended for being too over the top…even for FOX!
I believe that some African Americans have taken this “assimilation” issue a bit too far. While she may have a point, with her recent comments, that African American history is historically intertwined with American history; just the same, she seems to miss the mark in the understanding that most African Americans seem to naturally digress towards concerning our standing as a people here. We understand that because of our historic slave labor and systematic oppression, we comprise an enormously significant portion of the foundation upon which this country stands and we still need to erect establishments to our own greatness as a race within this country because our history and our conditions here demand it.
Where’s the sensitivity, Stacy?!
Is it me, or is this former, sugar-brown skin, green-eyed bombshell getting lighter and her eyes bluer? Understood…we all have to live here in America and if you want to speak your mind, you can. Stacy is entitled to her warped, historically unaware, self-hating rhetoric, but I just have to wonder….
what the heck, planet, is this Sistah on?
